How the Victoria-Esquimalt Eagles Lacrosse Association Operates
Victoria-Esquimalt Lacrosse comes under the jurisdiction of the Vancouver Island
Minor Lacrosse Commission.
From there we report to the
British Columbia Lacrosse Association and then the
Canadian Lacrosse Association.
We have an executive of volunteers who meet monthly or more frequently to
organize the running of the association.
As there are never enough volunteers, we encourage all parents to become
involved to volunteer where they can; so that the association runs as smoothly
as possible. However all parents will be required to help at their team
level and to make sure that their children are at practices and games on time.
Parents are always welcome at our meetings and this is a good place to have your
questions or concerns addressed.
Please refer to the parents page, as there are some responsibilities that are
required of all parents.
Most associations run tournaments at various different levels. Our association
runs two tournaments each season; one for Novice players (ages 9 & 10) and one
for Mini-Tyke players (ages 5 & 6) – both in June.
From time to time we take on bigger projects.
We have hosted the following special events:
-
2002 – Junior 'B' British Columbia Provincials (Ages 17 - 21)
-
2001 - British Columbia Summer Games (Lacrosse)
-
2001 - British Columbia Provincial 'B' Championships
Funding for our association come from registration fees,
sponsorships and funding from the Greater Victoria Bingo Association and the
Victoria Bingo Palace. With these funds; we pay for box and arena
floor time, purchase uniforms, goalie equipment and share in the upkeep of
the Bullen Lacrosse Box along with the Municipality of Esquimalt. It
is located directly behind the newly renovated
Esquimalt Recreation Center.
