Miscellaneous
·
The distribution of the 20,000 brochures in Coquitlam/Poco/Port Moody went
very well and they generated a lot of new registrations in those areas.
They are very pleased with the results.
·
Please ensure you get all player releases or age down applications to the
commission for approval prior to April 22nd – this is the date
the Provincial registrar must have the list by.
·
Zone 2 – Okanagan is tiering their leagues this year.
·
Reminder by the BCLA registrar that Association registrars must provide a
list of their C team players to their commissioners by May 7th.
·
Reminder to all Associations to submit award nominations this year – you can
nominate someone outside your Association as well.
Also, please put forward a name for the Pepsi Player.
Not sure where the winner will be announced – might be the Whistler
AGM.
·
Commissioners packages will be ready soon and Tim will be receiving copies
for distribution to all commissioners in the league.
·
Of interest to Nanaimo - A motion was passed to allow a maximum team size of
25 players in the Junior Female division.
·
The Richmond and Vancouver Killarney minor associations submitted a request
to be allowed to amalgamate their players this year due to falling numbers
in both Associations. They were
also proposing to dissolve their single associations and reform as a joint
association in 2009. The
proposal was approved by the Lower Mainland Commission.
After much deliberation, the proposal was denied by the Minor
Directorate for a variety of reasons, partially because they had not done
enough ground work in contacting their players to determine if they were in
favor of amalgamating and that declining numbers in itself is not a good
enough reason.
Next Minor Directorate meeting is Saturday, April 26, 2008.
